About the position

The Manager I position at Yakima County Juvenile Court is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Juvenile Dependency Court, managing staff, and implementing programs that support children and families. This role involves policy development, budget monitoring, and compliance with legal requirements, while also serving as a technical advisor in Dependency Court matters. The position requires strong leadership skills to coordinate services among various providers and represent the court in community outreach initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, implement, monitor, and analyze dependency court program services in the civil division.
  • Draft and revise department guidelines, policies, and procedures for staff and volunteer child advocates.
  • Represent Yakima County Juvenile Court on statewide committees and boards.
  • Manage, coordinate, and assign the work of Program Coordinators, staff, and volunteer Guardians ad Litem.
  • Supervise daily operations and programming of Dependency Services.
  • Maintain and approve payroll and attendance records, monitor expenditures.
  • Provide training and coaching, conduct performance reviews, and address sensitive inquiries and complaints.
  • Monitor staff caseloads and develop statistical procedures to measure effectiveness.
  • Prepare administrative reports and approve staff training requests.
  • Conduct investigations of complaints involving DSHS social workers and other parties.
  • Provide technical and strategic advice to department heads and community partners.
  • Create and revise planning documents for dependency court programs.
  • Research and analyze new potential programs and technology for dependency court professionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree AND four (4) years of progressively responsible experience, including 2 years in a supervisory and managerial capacity.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License at time of appointment.
  • Proof of insurance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in juvenile justice or child welfare systems.
  • Knowledge of dependency court processes and best practices.
