About the position

The Manager II for Advanced Manufacturing & Industry 4.0 is responsible for leading the programming, administrative, and customer service oversight for training in Advanced Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 technologies at the Finger Lakes Workforce Development Center. This role involves program development, coordination, budget management, and enhancing educational methods to address skill gaps in the workforce. The Manager will also build relationships with industry partners and ensure compliance with relevant regulations while potentially instructing courses in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead programming, delivery, and administration of learning in Advanced Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Coordinate all aspects of course development, including instructional materials and promotion.
  • Manage the training budget for Advanced Manufacturing/Industry 4.0 programs.
  • Assist instructors with instructional design and technology implementation.
  • Identify future needs in Industry 4.0 and propose educational solutions.
  • Build relationships with educational, community, and business partners.
  • Maintain relationships with industry and workforce development partners.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair relevant systems and equipment.
  • Apply customer service principles to program agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with apprenticeship instruction requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in mechanical/electrical technology or related field with five years of experience, or a Journeyman's card/certificate, or a minimum of 10 years' experience in an industrial setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to teach courses in the Mechatronics Program.
  • Commitment to an equitable, inclusive environment.
  • Understanding of diverse backgrounds and needs.
  • Knowledge of various teaching strategies.
  • Background in programmable logic controllers and ladder logic.
  • Effective communication skills (interpersonal, speaking, writing).
  • Proficiency in classroom and administrative technology, including MS Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field.
  • Ability to teach courses in Mechatronics, Robotics, or Smart Factory technologies.
  • Experience or interest in teaching online courses.
  • College-level teaching experience.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or other languages.
