About the position

The Manager II, National Sales is a pivotal role within Honda's Power Equipment Business Unit, tasked with achieving monthly wholesale and retail sales objectives across the United States. This position is not only about meeting sales targets but also about embodying and preserving Honda's core values within the department. The manager will be expected to make high-value decisions that influence the direction of the sales team, which includes one assistant to the National Sales Manager and eight District Sales Managers. This role requires a strategic mindset to develop national sales strategies that align with departmental goals, manage policy exceptions, and respond to market conditions by identifying sales obstacles and opportunities. In addition to strategic planning, the Manager II will be responsible for improving departmental processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. This includes supervising and managing a Sales Analyst I to ensure that objectives are met. The role demands a proactive approach to market sensing, allowing the manager to stay ahead of trends and adjust strategies accordingly. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Power Equipment dealership operations and be skilled in analyzing sales trends, developing plans, and implementing recovery countermeasures when necessary. The working environment is professional and may involve exposure to confidential information and business strategies. The manager will frequently present recommendations to upper management, requiring the ability to perform well under pressure and in high-stress situations. Responsibilities

  • Achieve monthly U.S. wholesale and retail sales objectives by model for the Power Equipment Business Unit.
  • Develop national sales strategies toward departmental goals.
  • Manage department policy exceptions and make high-value decisions.
  • Sense U.S. market conditions by region, identifying sales obstacles and opportunities.
  • Develop, execute, and track countermeasure plans to address market challenges.
  • Improve department processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Supervise and manage Sales Analyst I toward objective achievement.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Business or equivalent work-related experience.
  • Proficient in all MS Office applications, especially advanced Excel.
  • Proficiency in SAP.
  • Experience in reviewing sales trends and developing recovery countermeasures.
  • Experience in coaching sales representatives to achieve targets.
  • Experience in market sensing and understanding dealership operations.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Understanding of small business financial management, including P&L analysis.
  • Strong analytical, written/oral communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead with and without designated authority.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
