About the position

The Manager, Implementation Technology at FedEx Supply Chain is a pivotal role that leads integrated product and project teams, providing essential expertise in Product Development, Quality, and Operations for customer or company product introduction and launch projects. This position is based in York, Pennsylvania, and operates on a Monday to Friday schedule, requiring onsite presence. The incumbent is responsible for managing a cross-functional team that includes OEM engineers, production control, test engineering, software engineering, quality, materials, and operations. The role demands a holistic understanding of customer requirements and the ability to conduct comprehensive financial analyses of customer implementations. As a central point of contact for a defined internal and external customer base, the Manager will consult, implement, and optimize the company's software products and systems. In this role, the Manager will oversee at least two full-time exempt direct reports, with management responsibilities encompassing hiring, coaching, skill development, recognition, and performance management, including disciplinary actions. The Manager will ensure that projects adhere to established processes and lead the implementation of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) within company distribution facilities from start to finish. This includes evaluating and planning resource assignments, providing leadership for validation and completion of processes, and ensuring that all documentation is current and meets quality standards as per the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Additionally, the Manager will develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that systems align with the organization's business requirements and user needs. They will maintain effective communication between various systems and operations teams throughout projects, ensuring a complete end-to-end solution. The role also involves establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with co-workers, the business community, external customers, consultants, contractors, and vendors, while staying informed about current and future warehouse execution technologies and trends.

Responsibilities

  • Manage at least 2 full time exempt direct reports, including hiring, coaching, skill development, and performance management.
  • Ensure that projects are following the correct processes.
  • Lead the implementation of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) within company distribution facilities from start to finish.
  • Evaluate and plan resource assignments for the implementation team.
  • Provide leadership for the validation and completion of the entire implementation process.
  • Work with the design team to ensure documentation is up to date and follows the SDLC process.
  • Conduct financial analysis for customer implementations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure systems support business requirements and meet end-user needs.
  • Ensure the design of the solution is sound and provides necessary support resources with appropriate training and documentation.
  • Establish, maintain, and update strategy for implementing supply chain systems.
  • Maintain communication between various systems and operations teams during projects.
  • Understand the details of the overall implementation and requirements for a complete solution.
  • Work with implementation and program management teams to transition new projects into normal operations.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of business processes or technologies in assigned areas.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers, business community, external customers, and vendors.
  • Stay up-to-date on current and future warehouse execution technologies and trends.
  • Evaluate project resources and provide feedback to Managing Directors about performance and training needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems or equivalent training in a related field preferred.
  • 8 years of relevant experience in technology implementation.
  • 5+ years of management/supervisory experience.
  • 5 years of experience implementing and supporting Manhattan WMOS systems.
  • Strong operational knowledge and understanding of Warehouse Management.
  • Knowledge of enterprise hardware platforms such as UNIX and/or Linux servers and Oracle relational databases preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Oracle SQL for application development.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various internal and external customers.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
