About the position

The Manager, Import Compliance is a pivotal role within Triumph's International Trade Compliance (ITC) Center of Excellence (COE), primarily responsible for overseeing the import and customs compliance processes for the company. This position is based in the U.S. and reports directly to the Vice President, Deputy General Counsel. The Manager will lead the import process of goods and materials into the United States, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations and standards. This includes training ITC staff on the appropriate use of free trade agreements, analyzing ACE data, managing relationships with customs brokers and freight forwarders, and assisting logistics personnel in customs clearance processes. Additionally, the Manager will provide guidance to senior leadership and ITC personnel on responses to inquiries and investigations from U.S. and foreign governments regarding import compliance. In this role, the Manager is expected to set and execute ITC initiatives, support compliance improvements across various business units, and act as a corporate representative and subject matter expert in trade compliance. The Manager will drive compliance results through thorough analysis of trade data, a deep understanding of trade regulations, and strong collaboration with functional leaders across the organization. The position also involves maintaining documentation and record-keeping systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, monitoring import and export activities, and identifying areas for additional training or management attention. The Manager will lead the implementation of ITC best practices, oversee post-entry audits, report on key performance indicators, and ensure the accuracy of import data in enterprise systems. This role requires a significant understanding of customs exit and entry requirements, as well as the ability to analyze and execute compliance strategies effectively. The Manager will also be responsible for maintaining the Triumph site parts database and may perform additional duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary internal resource for all Customs-related issues, including strategic planning, data analysis, CTPAT certifications, official requests for information, and classification support.
  • Provide guidance and encourage collaboration across the enterprise to facilitate a common approach to import trade compliance across all operational teams.
  • Conduct specialized training for internal business teams on topics such as valuation, classification via HTS, Import 101, Incoterms, and special entry processes.
  • Coordinate with ITC leadership and internal subject matter experts to create, improve, and implement standard ITC policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with site functional stakeholders for awareness of the ITC requirements and regulations to be met.
  • Collaborate to support the business in implementing compliant import of goods, services, and technical data/technology.
  • Maintain documentation and record-keeping systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor export and import activities to identify areas where additional training or management attention may be required.
  • Lead and support the organization's implementation of ITC best practices.
  • Oversee post-entry audits to ensure compliance with local regulations.
  • Report on key performance indicators to determine performance by organization, broker, freight forwarder, and suppliers.
  • Capture and report on action plans to improve ITC key performance areas.
  • Report to upper management on issues of international trade compliance, as necessary.
  • Ensure the accuracy of import data in enterprise systems and maintain proper records as required by domestic and international trade regulations.
  • Lead, develop, and perform all administrative international trade compliance requirements for the organization and report any significant issues to management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years import compliance experience required.
  • Licensed Customs Broker.
  • Knowledge of Trade Compliance and Customs management and the effects of trade compliance activities across responsible areas.
  • Strong interpersonal and business communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Strong goal achievement skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding in International Business and/or Aerospace preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and solve problems.
