About the position

As a Manager in Training (MIT) at Canteen, you will embark on a comprehensive training journey designed to prepare you for a future leadership role within our organization. This position is part of the Accelerated Manager Program (AMP), which combines hands-on learning with personalized coaching and assessment. You will be assigned to a training location where you will engage in on-site learning while simultaneously participating in the AMP. This unique program is structured to last approximately 12 weeks, although the duration may vary based on your individual learning needs and pace. During your training, you will gain insights into the best practices of Canteen and Compass Group, focusing on various operational areas such as finance, purchasing, supply chain, hiring, training, and payroll. You will partner with experienced leaders to understand the culture, policies, and standards that drive our success. Your role will involve ensuring compliance with local and national account standards, maintaining high service standards, and effectively communicating with team members and clients. The AMP is designed to surface and develop future leaders through a competency-based assessment that identifies your strengths and areas for growth. You will benefit from a custom-built learning path that includes experiential learning opportunities, micro-courses, and simulations, along with one-on-one mentorship and a 360° evaluation of your progress. This program not only equips you with the necessary skills to excel in management but also fosters a collaborative and innovative environment where you can thrive. Responsibilities

  • Complete the on-site, hands-on learning portion of your onboarding and training experience.
  • Participate in Compass Group's Accelerated Manager Program (AMP).
  • Learn best practices in various operational areas including finance, purchasing, supply chain, hiring, training, and payroll.
  • Partner with leaders to understand the culture, policies, and standards of Canteen.
  • Ensure compliance with local and national account standards and review corporate compliance reporting.
  • Provide high standards of service and communication during operational assignments.
  • Take on managerial assignments in finance and accounting or operational areas that support one or more lines of business.

Requirements

  • A minimum of an associate degree in business management, operations, or a related field.
  • One year of customer service, logistics, or food service work experience or a related internship, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Competency in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Driver's license preferred.
  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to act quickly with little or no supervision.
  • Career-minded self-starter with a can-do attitude who desires to lead and inspire groups of people.
  • Demonstrates financial acumen including profit and loss management, inventory, and cash handling skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally before groups, clients, and/or employees.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines in a changing work environment.
  • Possess a basic understanding of customer service and client relations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in food service management or operations.
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems.
  • Previous leadership experience in a customer service environment.
