About the position

The Manager in Training (MIT) at City National Bank and Trust is a full-time position designed to develop and train individuals to become Branch Managers. The role typically lasts no more than six months, with a structured training period that includes 30-60 days for internal promotions and 60-90 days for new hires. The MIT is responsible for learning the expectations of a Branch Manager, focusing on sales management, coaching, and operational oversight while ensuring exceptional customer experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and train to become the Branch Manager.
  • Achieve and follow the same expectations as Branch Managers.
  • Lead by example in sales and operations.
  • Act as a liaison between the branch and other areas of the bank.
  • Focus on sales management and coaching activities.
  • Review and oversee operational areas.
  • Communicate effectively with superiors.
  • Set an example for quality customer experiences and follow-up.
  • Demonstrate performance as a sales and service leader.
  • Establish rapport with employees, customers, and prospects.
  • Initiate and demonstrate sales conversations with prospects.
  • Manage staff and build camaraderie to achieve goals.
  • Communicate performance expectations to staff and monitor performance.
  • Coach and encourage employees in their development.
  • Supervise and participate in the 2-2-2 call initiative.
  • Cultivate relationships with store management for customer referrals.
  • Provide training to staff for problem resolution.
  • Implement marketing promotions and campaigns.
  • Oversee and manage computer applications as required.
  • Prioritize customer demands to provide maximum service levels.
  • Teach and enforce bank policies and procedures.
  • Supervise training opportunities for employees.
  • Ensure operational accuracy and accountability.
  • Complete quarterly and monthly branch audits.
  • Administer security procedures and monitor attendance issues.
  • Manage branch income statements and facilities upkeep.
  • Provide coaching and corrective actions as needed.
  • Act as a liaison between employees and upper management.
  • Conduct formal coaching sessions monthly for all employees.
  • Participate in the interviewing and hiring process.
  • Address customer complaints and ensure satisfaction.

Requirements

  • 4 years of management experience; banking or sales management experience preferred.
  • 2 years of goal-oriented sales experience.
  • Military experience or a college degree is a plus.
  • Previous cash handling and banking experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
