About the position

The Manager of Incentive Compensation Operations at AbbVie plays a crucial role in optimizing the effectiveness of the sales force by designing and administering sales compensation plans and special incentive programs. This position involves statistical analysis, field force sizing, and collaboration with various teams to ensure that the sales operations align with business needs and drive performance. The role requires a blend of analytical skills, project management, and the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively to senior leadership and field teams.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning, design, payout and administration of sales compensation incentive plans and special incentive programs for commercial field sales.
  • Conduct statistical analysis using techniques such as regression analysis, marketing mix model reviews, and data visualization.
  • Identify the right field force size and structure through comprehensive design methodologies and competitive analysis.
  • Design territory alignments for field force teams to optimize resource allocation based on business needs.
  • Evaluate ongoing organizational needs and restructure field teams for new product launches.
  • Analyze data to provide insights and recommendations related to field deployment and customer targeting.
  • Develop and deliver formal presentations to internal and field teams, including senior management and sales leadership.
  • Collaborate with peers and Sales and Marketing leadership regularly.
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure projects are completed within budget and timeline.
  • Drive multiple complex projects while balancing short-term and long-term objectives.

Requirements

  • BA or BS degree required; Master's degree in business or science preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience in project management, marketing or sales operations, or information technology.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred, including Veeva/Salesforce.com experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment and manage multiple tasks/priorities simultaneously.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in developing, deploying, and managing effective IT systems and quality control procedures.
  • Public speaking ability addressing groups of various sizes.
  • Extensive understanding of pharmaceutical field sales activities, roles, and behaviors.
