About the position

The Manager of Industry Analysis will oversee research, analysis, and reporting on various industry sub-sectors for the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA). This role aims to identify growth opportunities for members and enhance the association's services and events. The manager will coordinate projects that analyze consumer lifestyles, market metrics, and adjacent industries to support SEMA's mission of helping its members succeed.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and analyze potentially underserved markets and sectors within the consumer and business markets.
  • Develop internal analyses of association expansion opportunities for growing membership and tradeshow attendance.
  • Create reports to help members grow by understanding consumer lifestyles and adjacent industries.
  • Coordinate internal dissemination and understanding to drive implementation of findings.
  • Source and analyze internal, primary, syndicated, and secondary data.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to uncover needs and outcomes.
  • Track association results and engagement with identified sectors.
  • Learn and detail the specialty-equipment market landscape.
  • Manage assignments through project lifecycle in support of industry analysis objectives.
  • Act as point of contact for internal ad-hoc questions and requests.
  • Develop relationships with member companies and industry contacts to further industry knowledge.
  • Support identification, evaluation, and development of opportunities to elevate the SEMA brand.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in management consulting, strategic planning, business analysis, PE/VC, or market research related role.
  • Project management skills and experience.
  • Experience sourcing and analyzing disparate data from various sources including industry reports and government datasets.
  • Exposure to quantitative and qualitative research projects, including method selection and data collection.
  • Experience working closely with senior stakeholders to assess needs and present findings.
  • Working knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, and advanced Excel skills; background with statistics or SQL databases is a bonus.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • 4-year college degree in Business, Economics, or related field; a Master's or MBA is a plus.
