About the position

The position involves supporting the development and operation of the Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program (ICP). Key responsibilities include managing conflicts of interest disclosure processes, conducting exclusions screening activities, reporting ICP activities to senior management, and serving as a liaison to Regional Health Ministries. The role also entails researching legal and regulatory issues, developing compliance policies, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring the effectiveness of the compliance program.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Trinity Health's annual conflicts of interest disclosure process for boards of directors/trustees and senior executives.
  • Coordinate follow-up and review of responses with management, Legal, Tax, and Regional Health Ministry representatives.
  • Prepare written reports on the results of the conflicts of interest disclosure process for review by senior management and governance.
  • Monitor and report on changes to laws, rules, and regulations affecting the conflicts of interest disclosure process.
  • Develop management plans for disclosed conflicts.
  • Serve as a point of contact for questions related to conflicts of interest process and related policies.
  • Administer system-wide monthly and annual screening of Trinity Health colleagues, medical staff, and vendors for eligibility to participate in federal health care programs.
  • Coordinate screening activities with System Office and Regional Health Ministry contacts and prepare periodic reports on the results.
  • Identify and implement operational improvements to the screening process based on changes in law and regulation and organizational changes.
  • Assist management in reporting ICP activities to Trinity Health senior leadership and the Organizational Integrity & Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or Business Law or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of six (6) years relevant experience in health care compliance or equivalent work experience demonstrating knowledge and understanding of the laws and regulations impacting the health care provider industry.
  • Certification in Healthcare Compliance ("CHC") designation or willingness to obtain certification within two (2) years of hire.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's or professional degree in law, business, or health care preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the Internet and research software tools and processes.
