The Strategic Communications Manager at AbbVie plays a crucial role in developing and executing a comprehensive communication strategy that effectively disseminates vital information to key stakeholders. This position is particularly focused on supporting the Advanced Customer Experience (ACE) business transformation, which is one of the company's most strategic and transformational priorities. The manager will take a holistic approach to design a communication system that ensures consistent and timely communication across multiple internal stakeholders, aligning with other Future Fit and commercial initiatives. In addition to strategic thinking, this role emphasizes hands-on application in digital media, making it pivotal to the organization's change management initiatives. The manager will be responsible for building best-in-class communication practices, supporting strategies that engage stakeholders through compelling outreach programs, and developing a comprehensive communication plan that includes accountability for web and digital channels. The role also involves maintaining a network of affiliate contacts, conducting community events, and best practice forums to gather insights and interpret stakeholder communication needs. The manager will craft a holistic communication framework, pinpointing the best channels, tactics, and timelines for effective dissemination of information. Furthermore, the position requires translating strategy into action by converting overarching communication strategies into tangible tactics and resources, ensuring widespread adoption. Hands-on skills in digital media are essential, as the manager will produce high-quality visual and written communications tailored to the audience. Collaboration with project leads, change management, and innovation teams is necessary to ensure alignment in all communications. The manager will rigorously evaluate the impact of communication campaigns, leveraging data and analytics for continuous refinement of strategies. Staying informed about the latest trends in strategic communication, digital media, and change management is also a key aspect of this role, along with regular reassessment of communication strategies to align with evolving stakeholder requirements and organizational objectives. The manager will be accountable for adhering to HR and OEC guidelines and will engage proactively with these teams for input and feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Key contributor and thought leader to building best-in-class communications practices.
  • Support strategies and initiatives that engage stakeholders through compelling communications outreach, programs, and initiatives.
  • Own the overarching communication plan, fully accountable for web and digital channels ensuring periodic delivery of key messages.
  • Maintain a network of affiliate contacts, conduct community events and best practice forums.
  • Systematically gather and interpret input from a variety of sources to delineate stakeholder communication needs and preferences.
  • Craft a holistic communication framework, pinpointing the best channels, tactics, and timelines for effective dissemination.
  • Convert the overarching communication strategy into tangible tactics and resources, ensuring widespread and effective adoption.
  • Deploy hands-on skills in digital media, producing top-tier visual and written communications tailored to the audience.
  • Work collaboratively with Project Leads, Change Management and Innovation lead, and other peers to ensure alignment and resonance in all communications.
  • Rigorously evaluate the impact and effectiveness of communication campaigns, leveraging data and analytics to refine strategies continually.
  • Collaborate intensively with internal and external teams and agencies, ensuring a unified message and consistent narratives across all channels.
  • Continuously update knowledge on the latest trends in strategic communication, digital media, and change management.
  • Regularly reassess and adjust communication strategies to ensure alignment with evolving stakeholder requirements and organizational objectives.
  • Accountable for adherence to HR and OEC guidelines, proactively engaging and anticipating input from these teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Integrated Marketing, Journalism, or a related discipline.
  • A Master's degree is a distinct advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience (minimum 4 years) in strategic communications with a pronounced focus on digital media.
  • Hands-on expertise in producing visual and written digital media content.
  • Acute analytical skills with the capability to gather, evaluate, and apply data for continuous improvement.
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and visual communication proficiencies, with knowledge of emerging communication trends and technologies.
  • Ability to collaborate seamlessly across various teams and departments.
  • Strong strategic planning and critical thinking aptitude to anticipate customer's needs.
  • Experience in the healthcare/bio-pharma industry is a plus.
