About the position

The Manager of Inventory Control at US Foods, Inc. is responsible for overseeing the inventory control staff, ensuring efficient labor planning and scheduling, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to address inventory issues, manage non-saleable inventory, and ensure compliance with SOX regulations. The position requires strong leadership skills to develop and motivate a skilled team while maintaining effective communication and time management.

Responsibilities

  • Labor planning and scheduling of inventory control staff to ensure timely completion of activities.
  • Coaching and developing associates to build a highly skilled and motivated team.
  • Driving continuous improvement by identifying opportunities and implementing best practices.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional partners to resolve root causes of inventory losses.
  • Monitoring performance metrics and analyzing cycle count adjustments to identify root causes.
  • Managing the reclamation process for vendor packaging issues and coordinating with buyers.
  • Overseeing non-saleable inventory and ensuring timely resolution with cross-functional partners.
  • Reviewing and approving customer credit requests while identifying process improvement opportunities.
  • Performing SOx compliance controls, including inventory report reviews and quarterly cycle counts.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in inventory control or warehousing.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control procedures and analytical skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in leading continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Agile preferred).
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience and excellent communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in foodservice distribution preferred.
  • Forklift and HAACP training (certification within 1st 90 days required).
