About the position

The IS Manager role at MaineHealth is a pivotal position responsible for leading a team of technical resources and/or IS Supervisors within a large, complex technical or business support team or production operations. This role is crucial in ensuring that the team operates efficiently and effectively, adapting departmental plans and priorities to meet resource and operational challenges. The IS Manager is accountable for the budget, performance, and results of a medium-sized team or multiple small teams, making decisions guided by established policies, procedures, and the overall business plan. The incumbent will receive guidance from IS Senior Managers and Directors, while also providing technical guidance to employees, colleagues, and customers. In this role, the IS Manager will address issues that have an impact beyond their own team, define team operating standards, and ensure that essential procedures are followed. A strong understanding of project management, resource management, performance management, and customer service is essential, as the position may involve managing service levels that operate 24/7 in some cases. The fiscal responsibilities of this role include the development, adherence, and monitoring of departmental budgets, ensuring that financial resources are utilized effectively to support the team's objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of technical resources and/or IS Supervisors for a large, complex technical or business support team.
  • Accountable for the budget, performance, and results of a medium-sized team or multiple small teams.
  • Adapt departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.
  • Provide technical guidance to employees, colleagues, and customers.
  • Define team operating standards and ensure essential procedures are followed.
  • Address issues with impact beyond own team.
  • Monitor and manage service levels, including 24/7 operations when necessary.
  • Develop, adhere to, and monitor departmental budgets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Prior management experience or experience in a highly collaborative role requiring strong interpersonal and leadership skills (2 to 3 years).
  • More than five years' experience working in a progressive technical environment.
  • Strong project management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with process/workflow analysis, design, and implementation.
  • Ability to structure organization for success (role definitions and org structure).
  • Strong facilitation and collaboration skills.
  • Strong business knowledge/acumen.
  • Outstanding organizational skills including knowledge of quality and project management tools and techniques.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate at all levels with clinical, technical, and administrative staff, vendors, and engineers.
  • Analytical skills necessary to organize and oversee the work of systems analysts/technical resources to effectively evaluate the quality of work performed.
  • Demonstrated change management skills.
