About the position

At Schwab, the Manager of IT Product Management plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of our streaming trading platforms and associated administrative applications, including thinkorswim, TOS Mobile, TOS Web, and other related Trader Group Applications. This position is pivotal in proactively monitoring all systems for potential issues and acting as the central point for remediation and resolution when issues arise. The individual will prioritize decisions related to time-sensitive issues, ensuring that our trading platforms operate without interruption. In addition to monitoring and resolving issues, this role supports Trader Web-related activities such as Futures/FX OLA, TD Direct Investing Support, Portfolio Margin OLA, and TraderWise/Autotrade functionalities. The IT Product Manager will assist with product development initiatives at all stages of the product development life cycle and take on additional applications in a support role. This includes serving as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the TOS suite of products across the business and coordinating all upcoming change activities for risk management and understanding within the TOS ecosystem. The responsibilities of the IT Product Manager include supporting production by testing reported issues, monitoring production support for Active Trading products, and working with various business and technical teams to address performance issues. The role also involves documentation and tracking of production issues, creating and maintaining requirements for upcoming development projects, and collaborating with internal and external teams to gather product requirements. The IT Product Manager will also assist development groups with prioritizing feature requests and defect tickets, integrating feedback into development requirements, and coordinating user acceptance testing prior to releases. Overall, this position is integral to managing the TD Ameritrade Development lifecycle for Active Trader products and ensuring the successful rollout of new features and products.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure seamless operation of streaming trading platforms and associated applications.
  • Proactively monitor systems for potential issues and serve as the central point for remediation and resolution.
  • Support Trader Web related activities including Futures/FX OLA and TD Direct Investing Support.
  • Assist with product development initiatives at all stages of the product development life cycle.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the TOS suite of products across the business.
  • Coordinate all upcoming change activity for risk management within the TOS ecosystem.
  • Test reported issues and provide documentation to T2 regarding current impact.
  • Monitor production support for Active Trading products and related issues.
  • Work with business and technical teams on performance issues and system performance degradation.
  • Document and track production issues and their impact on application availability.
  • Create and maintain requirements for upcoming development projects.
  • Gather product requirements and implementation details from various internal and external teams.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors for connectivity and market data management.
  • Assist development groups with prioritization of feature requests and defect tickets.
  • Integrate feedback requests into development requirements.
  • Coordinate testing groups for upcoming releases and communicate potential impacts on service levels.
  • Conduct user acceptance testing prior to releases and collect feedback from testers.
  • Help implement new features and products, including requirements gathering and release planning.
  • Manage the TD Ameritrade Development lifecycle for Active Trader products and collaborate with other development teams.
  • Perform functional and UAT testing on supported applications before and after releases.

Requirements

  • Ability to be available outside business hours for timely issue resolution; on-call availability including nights and weekends as needed.
  • Associate's Degree; Military education or experience may be considered in lieu of civilian requirements.
  • 3-5 years of related product management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in sound decision-making, prioritization, and multi-tasking in a fast-paced high-risk environment.
  • Ability to learn quickly, assume ownership, and provide direction on projects involving various functions.
  • Familiarity with social media, web design, and advanced trading applications; proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to operate in an Agile development environment delivering complex functionality in an expedited manner.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree with concentration in Finance or Math.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including communication, writing, listening, and presenting.
  • Strong organizational skills in time, project, and people management.
  • Possession of Series 3, 7, 63, 99 licenses.
