About the position

The Manager for the Office of Information Technology (OIT) at Rutgers University is responsible for overseeing the design, management, and support of critical network architecture. This role involves working within Network Operations & Architecture to support large-scale, distributed, stable, and fault-tolerant networks and systems that are essential for the University's missions in Teaching & Learning, Research, and community outreach. The position requires direct supervision of technical staff and engagement in improving the lifecycle of network infrastructure and services.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of several technical staff.
• Manage systems and services providing critical network services such as routing and switching.
• Scale and evolve systems sustainably, advocating for changes that improve reliability and agility.
• Develop and implement infrastructure supporting automated routines to improve service delivery times and quality assurance.
• Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle for both network infrastructure and supporting services.
• Maintain, monitor, and improve systems and services for NOA and Enterprise Infrastructure.
• Work with teams to support the automation of routine tasks such as reporting, provisioning, and monitoring.
• Transfer knowledge with other staff and researchers.
• Provide services including campus routing/switching, network monitoring, inter-campus connectivity, WAN site connectivity, Internet/Internet2 connectivity, and Research Networking engagement.
• Work on central network infrastructure in support of the University's network assets and the University community.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 7 years of networking experience or equivalent education and experience in telecommunications, information technology, or computer information systems.
