About the position
The Manager of the Microbiology Lab at Piedmont Healthcare is responsible for overseeing departmental operations, ensuring compliance with testing standards, and maintaining quality performance for staff and patients. This role involves collaboration with various healthcare professionals to enhance patient care and improve operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Oversee departmental operations of the Laboratory under the direction of the Director.
- Perform administrative duties including oversight and compliance of point of care testing and affiliated offsite areas.
- Monitor operations to ensure safe, efficient, and quality performance standards for employees, patients, and visitors.
- Collaborate with nursing, administrative, medical, and other staff to coordinate patient care activities.
- Support the facility's mission statement and achieve customer satisfaction.
- Identify system problems as opportunities for improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or a closely related field.
- Five (5) years of clinical experience, including at least two (2) years with supervisory responsibilities.
- Certification in medical technology; certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by ASCP, AMT, or AAB.
Nice-to-haves
- Master of Business Administration or Health Administration.
