The Manager of Land Acquisition will play a crucial role in our mission by locating, researching, and contracting new land suitable for acquisition and development. This position requires a proactive approach to market research and due diligence to identify potential land opportunities that align with our development goals. The Manager will be responsible for determining land values by analyzing comparable property sales through public records and engaging with developers and other professional affiliates. Negotiation skills are essential, as the role involves contracting land acquisitions and coordinating land entitlement and planning activities with Development personnel. The Manager will also oversee governmental reviews and monitor purchase agreements, ensuring compliance and alignment with company standards. In addition to these responsibilities, the Manager may have management duties, including mentoring and coaching team members, ensuring appropriate staffing levels, and utilizing recruitment tools to build organizational talent. The role also involves evaluating employee performance and planning for compensation actions based on performance metrics. Continuous coaching and providing developmental opportunities for employees are key aspects of this position, fostering a culture of growth and excellence within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Locate land suitable for acquisition and development by conducting necessary market research and due diligence.
  • Determine land values in the specific market by checking like property sales through public records, developers, and other professional affiliates.
  • Negotiate and contract land acquisition.
  • Coordinate land entitlement and planning activities with Development personnel.
  • Coordinate governmental review processes.
  • Review and monitor purchase agreements.
  • Coordinate joint venture agreements or joint venture management agreements as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related functional experience.
  • Valid Driver's License as driving is an essential function of this position.
