About the position

Apple is seeking a Manager/Lead Data Architect to join its Data Management Office within the Worldwide Sales organization. This role involves leading a diverse team to design and influence the development of a data architecture that aligns with business needs and governance principles. The position plays a critical role in driving technology vision and ensuring effective data management across various business units.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Data Governance team to establish a common business vocabulary and strategic data requirements.
  • Define best practices and promote data solutions to influence adoption across the organization.
  • Manage data as a critical asset across multiple business units.
  • Define a robust and scalable data architecture within the governance platform.
  • Facilitate the design and development of high-quality data resources to meet business needs.
  • Build and lead a team of technical resources for data resource design and delivery.
  • Support team members through goal communication, mentoring, and development programs.
  • Ensure cooperation between functional and technical resources for effective data asset design and development.
  • Collaborate with IT teams for enterprise information data models and overall data management practices.
  • Drive decision-making processes aligned with business priorities regarding architecture solutions.
  • Research emerging technology trends and vendor solutions to identify market opportunities.
  • Communicate data methodology and architecture results to stakeholders.
  • Increase adoption of data management solutions within broader IT projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 12+ years of related experience in data architecture or management solutions.
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience in data architecture or similar fields.
  • Significant background in data governance and implementing master data workflows.
  • Experience with data catalog, metadata management, and data discoverability.
  • Deep expertise in architecting infrastructure in public cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Knowledge of large scale data architectures and cloud data warehouse solutions (Snowflake, BigQuery, Azure).
  • Expert understanding of data models, database schemas, and optimization in domain-driven design.
  • Strong understanding of data products and services.
  • Familiarity with data exchange, micro-services, and APIs.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
