About the position

The Manager, Accounting leads a team of accountants within the Company's lease accounting function to determine lease classification and measurement/remeasurement, ensure complete and accurate financial close, and controls over lease transactions, including monthly rent (including complex variable percent rent calculations), common area maintenance (CAM) payments and billings, and property tax payments and billings. This role partners with other functional accounting teams in an end-to-end process. Further, this role is critical in acquisition and integration activities while ensuring business continuity and effective controls in the process. In this position, the Manager will oversee the shared service/centralized lease accounting close and reporting process, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and company policy and procedures for the accurate and timely reporting and payment of leases and billing of subleases. The Manager will manage lease accounting operations and activities including legal document review, classification testing, measurement/remeasurement, monthly close process, monthly rent and common area maintenance payments/billings, and monthly lease year-end percent rent processes. Additionally, the Manager will review lease and real estate portions of transfer settlement statements and directly supervise/coach a staff of 2-4 people, assisting in their professional development. The role also involves reviewing monthly P&L accounts related to fixed and variable rent, CAM, etc., and researching discrepancies between payments and billings to franchisees. The Manager will review journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, rollforwards, flux analyses, and disclosures to ensure the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and reporting. Furthermore, the Manager will research and analyze issues and inquiries, providing guidance to staff when resolving issues, and will provide outstanding customer service and support to internal and external business partners. The Manager will assist leadership in research and special projects and integrate processes across acquired brands into centralized teams, processes, and systems.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred.
  • 5-7 years of total accounting experience.
  • Prior experience with enterprise general ledger accounting systems (Oracle Cloud preferred).
  • ASC 842 - Lease Accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience in leadership/management.
