About the position

The Manager of Lipper Research U.S. at Thomson Reuters DBA Refinitiv is a managerial role focused on U.S. fund market research, including mutual funds, closed-end funds, ETFs, hedge funds, and more. The successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert, responsible for developing thought leadership content, refining research methodologies, and maintaining relationships with clients and stakeholders. This position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver insightful research reports, white papers, and presentations on trends and developments in the fund market.
  • Provide expert commentary and analysis for media outlets, conferences, and client engagements.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and market movements to ensure timely and relevant insights.
  • Provide insight into factors that drive innovation in products and methodologies, fuel sales, illuminate market risks, create opportunities, and affect investment decisions.
  • Lead the development, improvement, and implementation of research methodologies to ensure accuracy and relevance of data.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to innovate and improve data collection, analysis, and reporting processes.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices in research methodologies.
  • Collaborate with clients, reporters, and partners to demonstrate solutions using fund peer group analysis and criteria such as fund size/style, risk/return statistics, fund flow reports, and fees/expense data.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with key clients, providing them with actionable insights and customized research solutions.
  • Function as a primary point of contact for journalists, providing timely and expert commentary on market trends and research findings.
  • Represent Lipper at industry events, conferences, and client meetings, improving the company's reputation and visibility.
  • Work within the company to grow and maintain employee knowledge of Lipper products and the financial industry in general.

Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of the mutual fund business, including portfolio construction, pooled investment analytics, performance, fund flows and expenses, distribution channels, and major trends.
  • A strong background in equity and fixed income markets.
  • A proven foundation in technical analysis, fundamental analysis, and basic use of derivatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas during client presentations, conferences, and media interviews.
  • Familiarity with Lipper classifications and industry applications, such as Lipper for Investment Management, Global Fund Flows, and LSEG Workspace.
  • Proficiency in research tools, data analysis software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, mathematics, or related field.
  • Advanced degree in related field and/or progress toward CFA designation or equivalent experience is helpful.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary ranging from $133,400 to $248,000.
  • Annual Incentive Plan (AIP) eligibility for bonuses.
