About the position

The position involves managing a team of Machine Learning Scientists focused on developing Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Computer Vision (CV) models to enhance Expedia's Travel platform. The role includes setting the team's direction, expanding the team, coaching junior members, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to define project scopes and success criteria. The manager will also assist the team in applying machine learning techniques to solve business problems and communicate insights to inform company strategy.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of Machine Learning Scientists developing NLP and CV models.
• Set the direction of the team including focus areas and technologies.
• Expand the team by hiring new talent and coaching junior members.
• Conduct performance appraisals and provide feedback to team members.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define project scope and success criteria.
• Assist the team in applying machine learning techniques to solve business problems.
• Produce novel insights with machine learning to advise company strategy.
• Communicate concepts and results of analyses to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with other leaders to formulate solutions.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Data Science, or related field.
• 4 years of experience in the job offered or in a data science-related occupation.
