About the position

The Manager of Maintenance at Mastronardi Produce is responsible for overseeing the maintenance team to ensure the efficient operation of plant machinery and equipment. This role involves scheduling repairs, developing maintenance programs, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. The position emphasizes teamwork, productivity, and adherence to company values, while also focusing on continuous improvement in maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Promotes a spirit of teamwork and productivity among maintenance personnel.
  • Develops, refines, and administers maintenance qualification and training programs.
  • Develops, refines, and administers plant maintenance procedures.
  • Reviews job orders to determine work priorities.
  • Develops preventive maintenance program in conjunction with maintenance staff.
  • Directs training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
  • Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
  • Directs workers and contractors engaged in buildings and grounds maintenance activities.
  • Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
  • Keeps a record of all day-to-day maintenance and service activities undertaken in a facility.
  • Evaluates the performance of subordinates.
  • Complies with all corporate policies, Food Safety Policies, GMP, and OSHA rules while carrying out maintenance functions.
  • Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations in line with Food Safety and GMP guidelines.
  • Confers with management, production, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
  • Prepares department budget and monitors expenditure of funds in budget.
  • Reads and interprets documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Corresponds with various departments in the form of writing routine reports and correspondence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Trade School or Certification program required.
  • At least five years of related plant maintenance experience or equivalent required.
  • Thorough understanding of all aspects of plant maintenance, and a good working knowledge of electrical, carpentry, and plumbing.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, and interpersonal skills necessary to supervise nonexempt personnel.
