About the position

The Manager of Manufacturing Engineering at Leonardo DRS is responsible for supervising a team of engineers to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion. This role involves managing design assignments, driving program design to meet cost and manufacturability requirements, and facilitating communication between engineering teams and customers. The position also includes overseeing the development and implementation of manufacturing processes, ensuring product functionality and cost efficiency, and participating in strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of engineers on activities and ensure completion on time and within budget.
  • Manage budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments.
  • Drive program design to meet cost and design for manufacture requirements.
  • Communicate clearly with company personnel and customers as required.
  • Participate in the preparation of proposals and perform design reviews.
  • Supervise and direct the work of others as assigned.
  • Support and reinforce the mission, values, and culture of the organization.
  • Attend engineering, customer, or business meetings as appropriate.
  • Manage a team overseeing the development and implementation of manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure cohesive collaboration between the engineering team and other manufacturing departments.
  • Review, evaluate, and implement engineering changes and specification requirements.
  • Provide input to strategic decisions affecting the functional area of responsibility.
  • Resolve escalated issues arising from operations requiring coordination with other departments.
  • Develop manufacturing process plans, test requirements, manufacturing flow, and capacity plans.
  • Review detail designs for manufacturability and producibility.
  • Lead Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis workshops.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain an active DOD security clearance.
