About the position

The Ad Council is seeking a Manager of Marketing & Communications to lead the development and execution of communication strategies for social impact campaigns. This role focuses on managing public relations and social media strategies to enhance the reach and effectiveness of national campaigns addressing critical social issues. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, project management abilities, and a passion for social change.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the development and implementation of PR/social media programs to extend the reach of social good issues.
  • Counsel clients and cross-functional teams on public relations and social media activities and strategies.
  • Write press releases, talking points, pitches, speeches, blog posts, and social media content.
  • Assist with background research on reporters and potential spokespeople, compile reports, and update project progress.
  • Identify, onboard, and manage external agencies and vendors for media relations and social media management.
  • Collaborate on campaigns and special projects across departments.
  • Perform various administrative duties including processing SOWs and tracking billings.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in media, marketing, communications, advertising, public relations, and branding.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adjust copy for various audiences.
  • Fluency in public relations tactics and social media strategies across multiple platforms.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace.

Nice-to-haves

  • Passion for social good causes, volunteering, and/or philanthropy.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with MS Office applications.
