About the position

The Manager of Marketing & Creative is responsible for overseeing and directing the work of the marketing and creative team, which includes managing social media, graphics, events, and partnerships. This role involves supervising and coordinating the activities of assigned department staff, conducting performance evaluations, and ensuring that staff receive proper training on policies and procedures related to operations. The manager will also oversee contractors and staff managing department contracts, including advertising and marketing initiatives, as well as the transit bus and shelter advertising program. In addition to managing the team, the Manager of Marketing & Creative will develop, manage, and administer the departmental budget for the assigned area. The role requires supporting crisis communications as needed and coordinating with the CEO, RTC executive team, RTC Board of Commissioners, and elected officials on RTC-related matters. This includes developing and attending presentations, fostering relationships with community agencies and stakeholders, and promoting special events. The manager will also support the agency's communications strategy, particularly in managing public relations situations. The position entails administering programs and managing projects and contracts from inception to completion, overseeing the agency's marketing and creative strategy, and ensuring the preparation and publication of digital and printed materials. The manager will develop strategic marketing plans and campaigns for both internal and external audiences, recommending methods to achieve goals and implementing effective plans in a timely manner. Representing the RTC in meetings with community groups and media is also a key responsibility, along with supporting community engagement efforts. The manager will oversee traditional marketing, social media, digital marketing, and partnership programs, ensuring all projects are managed effectively from start to finish. The role requires participation in staffing and employee relations activities, ensuring adherence to RTC's diversity initiatives, and overseeing safety and security responsibilities for assigned areas. The manager will ensure that direct reports are trained on safety and security procedures and are held accountable for compliance. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in marketing, graphic arts, public administration, communications, journalism, or a closely related field.
  • Five (5) years of full-time professional public relations/public affairs experience, with four (4) years in a supervisory role, preferably in the last twenty-four (24) months.
  • Valid Class C Driver's License at the time of appointment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of web design and layout.
  • Experience with Associated Press writing style.
  • Skills in Adobe After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Lightroom, and Prezi.
