About the position

The Marketing Manager II for Rare Oncology Launch at AbbVie is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing commercial plans and promotional materials to establish market leadership in a competitive landscape. This role focuses on consumer marketing, omnichannel strategies, and advocacy efforts, working closely with various internal departments and external partners to ensure successful product launches and sales execution. The position requires strong leadership skills to foster collaboration without direct authority, contributing to AbbVie's mission of impacting the lives of those affected by cancer.

Responsibilities

  • Develop tactics that align with the strategic brand plan for Consumer marketing and nonpersonal promotional activities.
  • Support and participate in the development of strategy and tactics for upcoming product launches through Omnichannel, Media, and Digital execution.
  • Manage external industry conferences and engage with external customers.
  • Perform budget tracking and accountability to agencies.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate promotional programs and activities to achieve product sales objectives.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders where appropriate.
  • Direct marketing activities to targeted audiences ensuring communications are aligned to segment-specific drivers.
  • Monitor and analyze all sources of company and industry sales and marketing data.
  • Proactively support the sales force through ongoing communications of product plans and development of effective selling materials.
  • Conduct routine field travel with the sales force and participate in market research and patient immersions.
  • Manage internal/external networks, consultants, and agency partners.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing plans and recommend changes in strategy or tactics as appropriate.
  • Participate with cross-functional teams.
  • Communicate effectively up, down, and laterally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5-7+ years of general marketing experience or 3-5+ years in the pharmaceutical industry focusing on Oncology or Rare Disease
  • 3-5 years of experience leading independent projects
  • 1-5+ years in marketing or project management experience at an advertising agency, oncology, or rare disease
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Concept of budget development and management for marketing programs and tactics
  • Strong collaboration and team orientation
  • Strong analytics with excellent overall business acumen including budget planning and management
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and influencing matrix partners
  • Leadership skills
  • Ability to foster strong relationships with senior management and external partners

Nice-to-haves

  • Brand marketing/launch experience in pharmaceutical marketing or sales
  • Sales experience in pharmaceutical/biotechnology
  • Rare disease/oncology/hematology experience
  • Knowledge of marketing concepts within the strategic planning process
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively cross-functionally
  • Strong presentation experience and proficient PowerPoint skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of principles of market research to draw valid conclusions
  • Experience working with and managing multiple external agencies including advertising, digital, and internal partners
  • Demonstrated ability to operate quickly and decisively in a fast-paced, matrixed, and demanding environment
  • MBA or Graduate Degree
