About the position

The Manager of Marketing Technology and Data Operations at Berklee College of Music will oversee the marketing technology stack, including Salesforce Marketing Cloud, to enhance campaign execution, data capture, and customer experience. This role involves strategic development, implementation, and optimization of marketing technologies, collaborating with various stakeholders to improve marketing effectiveness and efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of the marketing technology landscape, particularly within higher education or B2C environments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize marketing technology platforms, including CRM, marketing automation, analytics, and data management tools.
  • Serve as Salesforce Marketing Cloud admin and product evangelist for digital marketing tools.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Operations team members and stakeholders to create optimized business processes.
  • Produce key process and architecture documentation for governance and investment decisions.
  • Manage communication subscription preferences, deliverability, governance, and compliance.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on email marketing operations and compliance regulations.
  • Act as the primary liaison between Marketing and ITS, prioritizing IT requests from Marketing.
  • Oversee and coordinate with vendors and the ITS department on database integrations and updates.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and execute targeted marketing campaigns.
  • Oversee, monitor, and enhance accurate capture and flow of marketing data.
  • Lead integration of data from multiple sources for a unified customer journey view.
  • Develop and implement best practices for data collection, integrity, governance, and security.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Analytics team to deliver marketing reporting and analysis.
  • Help develop and manage the marketing technology roadmap and evaluate business impact.
  • Champion customer advocacy initiatives within the Martech landscape.
  • Stay current with emerging technology trends and best practices.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of marketing technology professionals.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in marketing operations and/or marketing technology.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on work creating, optimizing, and managing complex processes and workflows.
  • Proficiency in marketing technology solutions such as CRM and marketing automation tools.
  • Marketing Cloud Admin certification is preferred.
  • Technical skills in SQL/SOQL, Ampscript, HTML, CSS.
  • Expertise in email campaign procedures and compliance regulations.
  • Experience with marketing attribution and campaign performance analytics.
  • Proven ability to analyze large amounts of information and synthesize actionable reports.
  • Experience creating process diagrams with LucidChart or similar tools.
  • Experience in project management and project tracking.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with agile methodologies.
  • Preference for prior higher education or nonprofit experience.
