About the position

Collins Aerospace, a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry, is seeking a dynamic and driven Manager, Materials & Logistics to lead operational excellence in materials and logistics at our Foley, AL location. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the development and execution of strategic plans that directly impact our global supply chain efficiency. You will collaborate closely with key stakeholders across Operations, Supply Chain, and Program Management to drive measurable results and ensure seamless integration of logistics strategies. This is an exciting opportunity to make a substantial impact within a highly collaborative environment. As the Manager, you will set the strategic direction and plan, direct, and control the administration of all domestic inbound transportation services, all international transportation services, and all domestic outbound transportation services across various modes and channels. Your responsibilities will include achieving delivery (On-Time Delivery), inventory, cost, and service-related goals while delivering on transportation management strategies and business processes. You will interact directly with internal and external customers, suppliers, factories, transportation, warehousing, and third-party logistics providers to achieve logistics strategy and goals. Ensuring transportation compliance with customs authorities and other regulatory entities will also be a key part of your role. You will prepare, maintain, and analyze shipping metrics to identify and resolve performance and On-Time Delivery problems. Working closely with the Supplier, Materials Management, and Operations teams, you will execute product flow strategies regarding planning, tracking, problem-solving, and providing purchase order visibility and product receipt performance. A safety-focused approach to employee and product protection and well-being will be prioritized. You will lead or engage in the Foley Site & Central SIOP process and report On-Time Delivery and inventory headwinds and results to leadership on a monthly and quarterly basis. As a leader, you will be dedicated to talent development, training, and succession planning, actively involved in resolving material discrepancies, and performing root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions. You will adhere to and advocate for Collins Path & Leadership Behaviors to drive culture improvements and promote culture surveys (PULSE) to drive engagement and develop and deploy action plans for improvement and sustainment.

Responsibilities

  • Set strategic direction and plan for all domestic inbound, international, and domestic outbound transportation services.
  • Achieve delivery (OTD), inventory, cost, and service-related goals.
  • Interact with internal and external customers, suppliers, factories, transportation, warehousing, and 3PL providers to achieve logistics strategy and goals.
  • Ensure transportation compliance with customs authorities and other regulatory entities.
  • Prepare, maintain, and analyze shipping metrics to identify and resolve performance/OTD problems.
  • Work closely with Supplier, Materials Management, and Operations teams to execute product flow strategies.
  • Prioritize a safety-focused approach to employee and product protection & wellbeing.
  • Lead or engage in Foley Site & Central SIOP process and report OTD & Inventory headwinds & results to leadership monthly/quarterly.
  • Dedicate to talent development, training, and succession planning.
  • Resolve material discrepancies and perform root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action.
  • Advocate for Collins Path & Leadership Behaviors to drive culture improvements.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status).
  • Experience using SAP or other ERP system.
  • Experience in a leadership or management role in materials, logistics, operations or related fields.
  • Experience with continuous improvement projects and processes such as Lean, Six Sigma, or CORE.

Nice-to-haves

  • Logistics, Materials or Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance or related degrees preferred.
  • Experience working with customs & Global Trade (import/export).
  • APICS Training/Certification (CLTD/CPIM/CSCP).
  • Hands-on experience utilizing analytics, particularly in assessing performance and utilization metrics.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suites such as Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.
