About the position

The Mechanical Project Support (MPS) Manager at Kinder Morgan is responsible for managing, planning, and directing an Operations Coordinator and three regional mechanical maintenance teams. This role ensures exceptional service to Operations through both planned and emergent maintenance of natural gas compressor units and associated equipment, primarily in the Central and Southeast regions of Texas. The MPS Manager will oversee multiple work teams, mentor employees, and align operational needs with maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct the work group, including mentoring and coaching employees.
  • Conduct performance reviews and participate in employment and disciplinary decisions.
  • Interface with internal customers to align planned and emergent work with operational needs.
  • Ensure compliance with company guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Review progress and direct changes in priorities and schedules as needed.
  • Evaluate bids and make suggestions to Operations.
  • Develop and implement job plans and cost-effective work procedures.
  • Manage Capital and O&M yearly budget and report monthly on involved projects.
  • Assist in developing annual Capital and O&M budgets for mechanical projects.
  • Ensure projects are completed within prescribed budgets and time constraints.
  • Develop short and long-term plans, goals, and objectives for the Mechanical Project Support organization.
  • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
  • Promote and maintain a high regard for personal safety and the safety of company assets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or associated studies, or a High School diploma/GED with 10 years of mechanical maintenance field experience or pipeline operations.
  • At least 5 years of effective management or supervisory experience in gas pipeline operations, mechanical maintenance activities, or pipeline engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of natural gas reciprocating, turbine, and electric driven compressor units and other plant equipment.
  • Ability to use manuals, specifications, drawings, and other resources to diagnose and correct mechanical problems.
  • Valid driver license and a satisfactory driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of company procedures and government regulations relevant to pipeline operations.
  • Experience with high pressure gas, processing equipment, pumps, and reciprocating or gas turbine engines and compressors.
