About the position

The Mechanical Project Support (MPS) Manager at Kinder Morgan is responsible for overseeing and directing multiple regional mechanical maintenance teams that provide essential service for natural gas compressor units and related equipment. This role involves managing team performance, ensuring compliance with company policies, and aligning maintenance work with operational needs across East Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Western Mississippi.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct four regional mechanical maintenance teams, each led by a Crew Leader.
  • Mentor and coach employees, conduct performance reviews, and participate in employment and disciplinary decisions.
  • Interface with internal customers to align planned and emergent work with operational needs.
  • Ensure compliance with company guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Review progress and adjust priorities and schedules to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Evaluate bids and make suggestions to Operations.
  • Develop and implement job plans and cost-effective work procedures.
  • Manage Capital and O&M yearly budget and report monthly on projects.
  • Assist in developing annual Capital and O&M budgets for mechanical projects.
  • Ensure projects are completed within budget and time constraints.
  • Develop short and long-term plans, goals, and objectives for the MPS organization.
  • Identify and report safety and environmental concerns.
  • Promote safety for company assets, employees, and the public.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or associated studies, or a GED with 10 years of mechanical maintenance experience.
  • At least 5 years of management or supervisory experience in gas pipeline operations or mechanical maintenance activities.
  • Extensive knowledge of natural gas compressor units and plant equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose and correct mechanical problems using manuals and specifications.
  • Valid driver license with a satisfactory driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of company procedures and government regulations relevant to pipeline operations.
  • Experience with high pressure gas, processing equipment, pumps, and compressors.
