The Manager of Medical Staff Administration at UC San Diego Health plays a crucial role in overseeing the credentialing functions essential for maintaining the integrity and compliance of medical staff operations. Reporting directly to the Director, this position is responsible for managing the medical staff administration team, which includes recruiting, hiring, orienting, training, and, when necessary, disciplining or terminating credentialing staff. This involves monitoring productivity, launching improvement initiatives, and sustaining results for both UC San Diego Health and UC San Diego Medical Group credentialing operations. In addition to administrative responsibilities, the manager collaborates closely with various committees and leadership roles within the organization. This includes providing functional expertise to the Chairs of the Credentials Committee, Interdisciplinary Practice Committee (IPC), Physicians' Wellbeing Committee (PWBC), Medical Staff Professionalism Committee (MSPC), Chief Medical Officers, and Department Chairs. The role requires a high level of discretion and confidentiality, as it involves handling sensitive matters related to privileges and credentialing. The manager must also ensure that all processes align with best practices in credentialing and comply with external regulations, thereby safeguarding the quality of care provided by the medical staff.
