About the position

The Manager of Mortgage Outside Sales at Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union is responsible for leading and directing the activities of the Outside Mortgage Sales team. This role involves overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and ensuring the team meets production and quality goals while fostering a positive work environment. The manager will develop sales programs, monitor productivity, and build relationships with real estate professionals to enhance business development.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with HR and OD to recruit, onboard, develop, and retain high-quality staff.
  • Oversee the daily workflow of the department and provide constructive performance evaluations.
  • Coach, mentor, and motivate staff to ensure timely and accurate communication.
  • Foster a productive work environment that supports employee development and meets established goals.
  • Recruit, train, and manage Mortgage Loan Originators (MLOs) and Processors to achieve production and loan growth goals.
  • Develop a sales program with established goals and monitor sales productivity.
  • Create a member-focused sales culture that balances accountability with core values.
  • Partner with business unit leaders to establish referral goals for member servicing.
  • Produce and analyze reports on key departmental metrics to support decision-making.
  • Develop relationships with real estate professionals and other business referral sources.
  • Assist in preparing the annual budget and monitor expenditures to meet financial expectations.
  • Provide insight into the annual business planning process and production targets.
  • Manage incoming leads through various communication channels.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with departments for seamless mortgage product delivery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum six years of mortgage sales experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or certification in business administration or related field, or more than six years of related experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with digital communication technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Sound credit judgment and underwriting skills.
  • Excellent pipeline management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) or ability to become registered upon employment.
