About the position

The (Sr.) Manager, National Procurement at KB Home plays a crucial role in supporting the corporate strategy aimed at reducing costs through enhanced supplier relationships and optimizing the supply chain. This position is responsible for managing national supplier relationships, ensuring alignment with national contracts, and driving the implementation of the company-wide sourcing strategy. The role requires collaboration with various divisions to address performance challenges and facilitate problem resolution, while also overseeing procurement management and cost reduction initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage national supplier relationships focusing on cost, quality, productivity, and service.
  • Source vendors for materials, equipment, and supplies, assessing product availability and sales terms.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage volume across national, regional, and divisional levels.
  • Ensure alignment of divisions with national contracts and sourcing strategies.
  • Collaborate with divisions and suppliers to resolve performance and product availability challenges.
  • Develop product pricing guidelines and ensure competitive pricing across categories.
  • Coordinate purchasing goals with National Contracts leadership to support business plans.
  • Monitor and communicate performance issues with trades and product changes.
  • Lead cost reduction initiatives and manage national rebate setups and collections.
  • Facilitate new product implementation and create training plans for divisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Construction Management, Procurement, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5-7 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, and/or construction management for Manager role.
  • 8+ years of experience for Sr. Manager role, with prior employee management experience.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and self-directed initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to influence key leaders and manage conflict effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AS400, and JD Edwards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the Real Estate industry, particularly in residential homebuilding.
  • Familiarity with Homebuilder 1 Construction and ability to read blueprints.
