About the position

The Manager, Non-Theatrical/Theatrical Sales at Sony Pictures Classics is responsible for negotiating and booking non-theatrical playdates for various organizations, including film societies and colleges. This role involves actively seeking repertory playdates, managing post-run bookings, and exploring new revenue opportunities. The manager will also maintain a database of past clients, liaise with various departments for operational support, and assist with promotional efforts for non-theatrical titles.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate, invoice and book non-theatrical playdates for film societies, churches, colleges, film clubs, etc.
  • Actively seek and book repertory playdates.
  • Book 'Post-Run' playdates for SPC titles.
  • Explore new areas for revenue generation using thematic repertory and theatrical packages.
  • Find potential non-theatrical sub-distributors for the film catalog.
  • Report daily grosses, including weekends.
  • Discuss titles worth reissuing and spearhead their release.
  • Create and maintain a non-theatrical database of past clients.
  • Liaison with Operations Department for billing and booking issues.
  • Liaison with Sales Department for group sales of theatrical releases.
  • Get holdovers for weekly bookings.
  • Send out promotional information for new non-theatrical titles.
  • Liaison with Advertising Dept for promotional materials and guest speakers.
  • Assist with contracts and quarterly reporting for non-theatrical sub-distribution companies.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years theatrical sales experience
  • Knowledge of US theatrical territories by branch/DMA
