About the position

The Manager of the Nursing Research Program/System Nurse Scientist at MetroHealth Medical Center is responsible for directing and overseeing nursing research activities across the Nursing Enterprise. This role involves mentoring nurses in research practices, developing nursing research initiatives, and ensuring compliance with ethical standards in research. The position also includes collaboration with various departments to promote research utilization and dissemination of findings, while upholding the organization's mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee nursing research activities among nurses across the Nursing Enterprise.
  • Act as a mentor and role model for nurses in research.
  • Develop nursing research initiatives and foster research utilization activities.
  • Protect the rights of human subjects involved in nursing research.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Nursing Department and the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Office of Compliance.
  • Explore research funding opportunities and disseminate research findings at professional organizations and in journals.
  • Lead multi-site and interdisciplinary research studies.
  • Collaborate across departments regarding research initiatives.

Requirements

  • Research doctorate degree (PhD) in Nursing or related health field.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher nursing degree if PhD is not in nursing.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
  • Current certification in conducting Human Subject Research or obtain within 3 months of hire.
  • 5 years of experience in clinical nursing.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3 years of experience in clinical and/or nursing research.
