About the position

The Manager of Nutrition Services at Samaritas is responsible for overseeing the Nutrition Services department within a senior living community. This full-time role involves managing a dynamic team, ensuring residents receive nutritious meals, and maintaining high standards of food service. The position requires interaction with residents to enhance their dining experience and compliance with food safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing supervision to kitchen staff, including Nutrition Services supervisors, in compliance with policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Standardize methods for work accomplishment and maintain written procedures for dietary department operations.
  • Ensure adequate inventories to meet department needs within budgetary guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain food production lines to assure timely meal delivery.
  • Monitor food preparation and cooking for both regular and modified diets.
  • Conduct regular inspections of Nutrition Services to ensure compliance with food service regulations.
  • Ensure cleanliness of kitchen and dining facilities and assist with cleaning duties as required.
  • Participate in and respond to customer satisfaction surveys.
  • Visit residents regularly to evaluate meal quality and food service program satisfaction.
  • Assure implementation of all Nutrition Services functions related to the facility.
  • Participate in goal-setting and ensure achievement of facility and organization goals.
  • Complete clinical assessments within the Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) scope of practice as identified by the Registered Dietitian.
  • Assist in preparation of the annual operating budget and review financial reports for variances.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a relevant field of study required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) accreditation required.
  • ServSafe certification required.
  • Minimum two years' experience in a health care food service operation.
  • Minimum two years in a supervisory role; minimum one year in a CDM role.
  • Knowledge of Long Term Care Survey Manual and federal food handling guidelines.
  • Strong leadership skills with knowledge of employee relations and labor laws.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data and implement solutions.
  • Sensitivity skills to display compassion with vulnerable adults.
