About the position

The Manager of Academic Partnership & Public Engagement at Public Art UHS is responsible for leading the development and implementation of art-centered academic partnerships and public engagement initiatives. This role aims to engage key audiences and support the mission of the University of Houston System through education, interpretation, and outreach, focusing on public art.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, refines, and expands strategies for academic partnerships and public engagement.
  • Implements new models of cultural participation, mission-aligned programming, and collaborations that center and uplift public art.
  • Develops and implements public programs in response to Public Art UHS's permanent collection, exhibitions, and installations across UH System universities.
  • Partners with UH System faculty and staff to increase awareness about Public Art UHS as a campus resource.
  • Establishes and presents curriculum-structured talks, tours, and other co-curricular partnerships that bring public art in dialogue with a variety of academic fields.
  • Encourages engagement and advocacy of public art by cultivating student-driven programs and creative projects.
  • In collaboration with University Marketing and Communication, implements marketing and communications strategies to engage and expand public audiences.
  • Establishes, tracks, and reports on program goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across public programs and university partnerships.
  • Supports fundraising, cultivation, and reporting efforts in partnership with program collaborators and University Advancement.
  • Prepares and oversees the annual budget for public programs and university partnerships by tracking income and expenditures.
  • Recruits and mentors Graduate Assistants and Public Art Student Ambassadors.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline.
  • Requires a formal, directly job-related 4-year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program.
  • Preferred: Master's Degree.
  • Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related professional experience.
  • Requires a valid Texas Driver's License.
