About the position

The position involves leading and managing the financial reporting and general ledger (GL) accounting team, overseeing day-to-day operations, training, and performance management. The role requires ensuring timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with US GAAP or IFRS, preparing and reviewing financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Additionally, the candidate will manage and maintain the general ledger, develop and implement internal controls, and work collaboratively with other departments to gather and consolidate financial information. The position also involves analyzing financial data, staying current with accounting standards, preparing for external audits, and researching technical accounting matters.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the financial reporting and GL accounting team, including day-to-day operations, training, and performance management.
  • Oversee the closing process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with US GAAP or IFRS.
  • Prepare and review financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording and classification of all financial transactions.
  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure data integrity.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments (e.g., sales, operations, tax) to gather and consolidate financial information.
  • Analyze financial data and identify trends or areas for improvement.
  • Stay current with accounting standards and regulations (e.g., IFRS, SEC regulations).
  • Prepare and support the external audit process.
  • Research and provide documentation on technical accounting matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience as a Financial Reporting or GL Accounting Manager.
  • Big 4 public accounting firm experience a strong plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proven experience in leading and managing an accounting team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., ERP systems, SAP is a strong plus).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
