About the position

The Senior Manager of Financial Accounting at TJX plays a pivotal role in overseeing the financial close process and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the TJX Financial Statements. Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President of Financial Accounting, Corporate, this position manages a team that includes 2 Accounting Managers and several Financial Accountants. The Senior Manager is responsible for presenting and analyzing financial statements, which requires a deep understanding of complex accounting concepts and the ability to apply new or changing accounting standards. This role is not only about managing numbers but also about fostering a collaborative and positive work culture, contributing to the development of team members, and ensuring a reasonable work-life balance. In this dynamic environment, the Senior Manager will lead projects and support process improvement initiatives, working closely with department heads and operating areas to review financial results and provide insightful analysis. Responsibilities

  • Manage accounting teams to successfully complete the month end close
  • Oversee preparation of financial statements and support schedules
  • Manage expense and capital spend through adequate control and review procedures and ensure compliance with all Sarbanes Oxley requirements
  • Partner with department heads/operating areas to review financial results/analysis and support the business
  • Understand complex accounting concepts, including application of new or changing accounting standards
  • Communicate effectively in addressing business needs as it relates to accounting matters
  • Lead projects and support process improvement initiatives
  • Create and support a team environment by providing leadership, vision and challenging work
  • Develop associates through coaching, mentoring and providing feedback

Requirements

  • 8+ years of proven experience in accounting, audit or related finance
  • 2+ years of management experience and leading others
  • Self-starter and highly motivated
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment and prioritize effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to build relationships
  • Advanced Excel skills; Oracle/ERP experience is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA is a plus
