About the position

The Manager of Ambulatory Operations Support & Business Development will play a crucial role in enhancing access to ambulatory care services across Cook County Health (CCH). This position involves collaboration with the Director of Ambulatory System Operations & Business Development to develop new clinical programs and improve existing ones, with a focus on population health and value-based care. The Manager will be responsible for supporting the Ambulatory Operations Support & Business Development team in their efforts to meet community health needs through innovative program development and operational improvements. In addition to program development, the Manager will engage in various administrative responsibilities, including reviewing and consulting on Collective Bargaining Agreements, participating in negotiations, and ensuring compliance with labor relations policies. The role requires a strong emphasis on management, where the Manager will contribute to the overall success of CCH by developing policies and procedures, addressing staffing issues, and executing disciplinary actions as necessary. The Manager will also be tasked with leading ambulatory projects, collaborating with various internal leaders, and advocating for providers in contracting specialty services. This position requires a proactive approach to building referral relationships with external providers and ensuring that service line strategies align with patient needs and market expectations. The Manager will collect and analyze data to generate reports that support strategic initiatives and will remain informed about emerging trends in healthcare to drive continuous improvement within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in increasing access to ambulatory care services throughout Cook County Health (CCH).
  • Support the development of new clinical programs and advance existing programs focusing on population health and value-based care.
  • Review applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements and consult with Labor Relations to generate management proposals.
  • Participate in collective bargaining negotiations and working meetings.
  • Document, recommend, and effectuate discipline at all levels.
  • Direct and effectuate CCH management policies and practices.
  • Provide support in the development, implementation, and maintenance of operational improvements for the department.
  • Provide data and reports necessary to support ambulatory decision-makers with analysis related to network development.
  • Work collaboratively with ambulatory directors, nursing, and medical leadership.
  • Develop business-level goals to effectively utilize ambulatory care services.
  • Lead ambulatory projects by creating action plans and ensuring project completion.
  • Collaborate across functional areas to develop business and implementation action plans.
  • Advocate for providers when contracting specialty services throughout CCH locations.
  • Build referral relationships with external providers and obtain feedback based on patient experience.
  • Ensure service line strategies address access and expectations.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to identify market and patient care expectations for service lines.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze data to generate reports that align with strategic initiatives.
  • Participate in the interviewing, hiring, training, and development of staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Three (3) years of experience working in a supervisory and/or management role within a healthcare organization.
  • Prior experience assisting with data management/analysis.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel).

Nice-to-haves

  • Three (3) years of health care management experience in teaching, urban academic hospital and/or health system.
