About the position

The University at Albany, Massry School of Business is seeking a Manager of Communications and Marketing to enhance the visibility and appeal of its academic programs. This role is pivotal in crafting and executing comprehensive marketing strategies that resonate with both prospective students and the broader community. The Manager will be responsible for developing engaging content that aligns with the School's mission and values, ensuring that messaging is consistent across all platforms, including social media, email, and print media. In this position, the Manager will collaborate closely with various departments and program managers to devise targeted marketing plans aimed at attracting graduate and undergraduate students. This includes creating specialized content for external audiences, such as alumni and potential donors, and maintaining the School's social media presence to reflect current trends and engage with the audience effectively. The role also involves analyzing the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and utilizing social media tracking tools to assess performance. The Manager will oversee the School's website, ensuring it is up-to-date and user-friendly, and will utilize Customer Relations Management (CRM) systems to support marketing efforts. Participation in on-campus events is also a key responsibility, as the Manager will promote the School's achievements and initiatives. This position requires a proactive approach to content creation, including capturing visuals and collaborating with the Office of Communications and Marketing to produce high-quality marketing materials. Upholding branding consistency and best practices across all communications is essential to this role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement communications and outreach strategies for the School in collaboration with the Office of Communications and Marketing.
  • Identify best content and plan communications strategy; collect, create, write, synthesize, and edit content for various platforms.
  • Collaborate with departments and program managers to develop and execute marketing plans to attract prospective students.
  • Assist in developing specialized content for external audiences and alumni, including executive communications and impact reports.
  • Maintain the School's social media feeds and stay current on trends and new platforms.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and events.
  • Utilize social media tracking tools to evaluate campaign performance.
  • Oversee the School's webpage using website management software, Drupal.
  • Use Customer Relations Management system, SLATE, to assist with marketing campaigns.
  • Attend on-campus events to promote the School's accomplishments and achievements.
  • Capture photographs and visuals to support content creation and marketing materials.
  • Ensure branding consistency across Massry School of Business entities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with a broad range of internal and external constituencies.
  • Minimum of four years' experience in marketing and communications management.
  • Experience with multiple social media platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in technology and new media, including website design and ADOBE Creative Cloud.
  • Experience with Customer Relations Management (CRM) systems.
  • Ability to create and generate new social media communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within a diverse campus community.
  • Ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree and/or a professional certification in marketing or public relations.
  • Experience in higher education marketing or communications.
  • Understanding of University at Albany brand.
  • Experience using website development tool, preferably Drupal.
  • Proficiency in SLATE (Technolutions).
