The Office of Communications and Marketing (OCM) at George Washington University is dedicated to developing and implementing strategies that enhance the visibility of the university's experts, initiatives, and accomplishments. The OCM manages media inquiries and interviews with senior university leadership, provides internal communications expertise, and produces print and online publications to showcase the university's work. Currently, the OCM is seeking a Manager of Communications for the Provost Office Institutes, who will report directly to the Director of Communications for the Provost and the Provost Office. This role presents an exciting opportunity to lead communications for three dynamic and high-impact academic institutes: The Alliance for a Sustainable Future, the Global Food Institute, and the Institute for Racial, Ethnic, and Socioeconomic Equity (Equity Institute). In this position, the Manager of Communications will work closely with institute leadership and collaborate with two full-time communications staff members, whom they will oversee. The manager will serve as a strategic communications and marketing leader, supporting the mission and goals of the institutes by developing tailored communications and marketing plans for both internal and external audiences. This includes researching, writing, editing, and distributing various communications materials such as website content, articles, newsletters, emails, and social media posts that align with the strategic objectives of the institutes. The role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams within the OCM, including editorial, social media, multimedia, web, media relations, and marketing, to ensure comprehensive support for the institutes. The manager will promote research and initiatives from affiliated faculty, manage communications for institute leadership, and support event planning and logistics. Additionally, the manager will monitor news and current events related to the institutes' subject matter and provide direction to student communications interns. This position is integral to the success of the institutes and requires a commitment to their missions and goals.
