About the position

The Nebraska Tourism Commission is seeking a passionate individual to fill the role of Manager of Community & Stakeholder Activation for Visit Nebraska. This position is pivotal in strategizing, creating, managing, and coordinating a comprehensive statewide tourism relations program aimed at enhancing awareness of the visitor economy's significance throughout Nebraska. The primary focus will be to foster an understanding of the tourism industry's role as a catalyst for community and state development, emphasizing areas such as destination branding, cultural promotion, quality of life, workforce development, and overall economic growth. In this role, you will collaborate with various stakeholders to develop and present educational programs that highlight the importance of the tourism and hospitality industry in Nebraska. Utilizing resources like Destination International's studies, you will establish relationships with state and local government agencies, business organizations, and community groups to promote the benefits of destination marketing. Your efforts will contribute to a chain reaction of positive outcomes, including economic growth through visitor spending and enhanced community well-being. You will also lead the creation of a community activation blueprint to help local residents understand the tourism industry's contributions to their economies and quality of life. This includes managing an industry-related speakers bureau to raise awareness and providing communities with educational materials and programming to foster ongoing knowledge about the visitor economy. As a representative of the agency, you will attend trade shows and public events to promote tourism awareness and coordinate various program operations to ensure effective outreach and engagement with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Create and present educational programs about the tourism/hospitality industry's role in Nebraska.
  • Establish relationships with state/local government agencies and business organizations.
  • Lead the development of a community activation blueprint for local tourism understanding.
  • Coordinate and manage an industry-related speakers bureau for grassroots education.
  • Provide communities with programming and educational materials about tourism.
  • Act as a resource for industry leads and represent the agency at events.
  • Create and distribute a tourism update newsletter to various audiences.
  • Plan, organize, and manage program operations and industry awareness efforts.
  • Provide relevant industry-related content for stakeholder communications.
  • Serve as a liaison between communities and industry stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Post high school coursework in business administration, economics, marketing, or finance; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5-7 years' experience in advanced sales, economic development, and/or international marketing.
  • Valid driver's license or reliable transportation.
