About the position

The Manager of Customs Compliance and Transportation at Groundworks will oversee domestic transportation and importing processes, ensuring compliance and efficiency. This role offers the opportunity to build a department from the ground up and contribute significantly to a growing business. The manager will lead strategic initiatives, manage day-to-day activities, and collaborate with various stakeholders to optimize transportation and customs operations.

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead strategic initiatives related to Customs compliance and domestic and international transportation activity.
  • Develop and implement a compliance program ensuring adherence to all applicable Customs and governmental regulations.
  • Collaborate with carriers to secure optimum freight rates.
  • Manage all day-to-day Customs and transportation-related activities.
  • Drive cost reduction in transportation and customs spend.
  • Research and assign harmonized tariff schedule (HTS) numbers and maintain a product database with classification justifications.
  • Ensure accurate product country of origin and labeling text.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to understand transportation needs.
  • Develop and maintain service provider and carrier KPI scorecards.
  • Execute an annual transportation RFQ and serve as a strategic partner for shipping projects.
  • Identify transportation process improvement opportunities.

Requirements

  • Must be a licensed Customs Broker.
  • Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain related field required or applicable work experience preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in Customs and domestic/international transportation.
  • 3+ years of management experience in a similar role.
  • Understanding of import and export regulations for the U.S. and foreign countries.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and financial leadership skills.
  • Consistent history of surpassing objectives and delivering exceptional results.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, with Excel super user skills.
