About the position

The Sr. Manager of Data Engineering will lead a high-performing team of data engineers at a leading data solutions company. This role focuses on driving innovation, developing scalable data pipelines, and ensuring team productivity and reliability. The manager will collaborate with other departments to meet key performance indicators (KPIs) and deliver top-tier data solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, hire, and retain top talent, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and client service.
  • Design and develop high-performance, scalable data engineering pipelines.
  • Set and track team goals for integration productivity and reliability.
  • Build resilient, reliable, scalable, automated data solutions with appropriate monitoring and alerting mechanisms.
  • Provide regular feedback, coaching, and recognition to team members, promoting career growth and team development.
  • Oversee an on-call support rotation to ensure continuous operational success.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, MIS, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data integration/engineering.
  • 4+ years of experience leading and managing teams.
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication skills with strong client acumen.
  • Knowledge of financial and operational business data.
  • Solution-oriented with a passion for solving problems and taking ownership of the data engineering function.
  • Experience in debugging, support, data analysis, with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Expertise in ETL/ELT data ingestion patterns and a wide array of data sources and toolsets.
  • Solid understanding of data engineering design patterns, algorithms, schemas, queries, and system design.
  • Experience with modern software engineering tools, including Agile/SAFE, CI/CD, and DevOps.
  • Familiarity with Azure Cloud PaaS data services, preferably Azure Data Factory, Databricks, SQL, and Data Lake.
  • Significant experience working with large data systems using T-SQL and/or Python.

  • Competitive salary ranging from $150,000 to $165,000 annually.

  • On-site work Monday through Thursday, with remote work on Fridays and half-day summer Fridays.
