About the position

The Manager of Data Engineering is responsible for leading and managing the Data Engineering team, ensuring efficient operations to support the Central Health Enterprise and its partners. This role involves overseeing daily activities, resolving technical challenges, improving processes, and mentoring team members. The Manager will also coordinate projects with internal and external stakeholders and communicate progress to senior leadership, aligning with enterprise strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage staff, including hiring, firing, assigning and prioritizing work, setting employee goals, reviewing team performance metrics and completing performance reviews.
  • Analyze problems related to data models and data pipelines, and develop solution-focused recommendations.
  • Manage data lineage, data catalogs, and metadata within our data governance platform as it relates to data models and data pipelines.
  • Perform vendor management and oversight as needed.
  • Utilize standardized department tools/software systems to monitor progress toward project milestones and deadlines, reassigning resources when necessary to meet organizational objectives.
  • Be responsible for implementing and maintaining leadership-approved best practices for design, development and implementation of data pipelines and their components.
  • Manage and validate the development of new data models, data pipelines, SQL functions/procedures, reports, and other development tasks as necessary.
  • Oversee data software implementations, upgrades and/or enhancements and other aspects of data engineering.
  • Manage and oversee the Data Engineering team processes and staff including Data Engineers, Quality Assurance Specialist(s), and Data Architect(s).
  • Manage delivery of advanced support for Enterprise data models and data pipelines, coordinating efforts with User Support, network administrators, system administrators, network engineers, and other staff as needed.
  • Must be able to work outside of standard business hours when needed.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or higher in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Data Science or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in related technologies, including electronic health records (EHRs), database and data warehousing platforms, ETL/ELT tools, cloud-based systems, including but not limited to Epic EHR, Snowflake, Microsoft SQL Server or PostgreSQL, and Boomi.
  • 2 years of IT management experience.
  • 2 years of experience mentoring other Data Engineers.
  • EPIC Certification - within 6 Months.
  • Boomi Professional Developer - within 3 Months.
