About the position

The Manager of Data Engineering at National Funding is responsible for designing, building, and scaling the organization's data infrastructure to support data-driven initiatives. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure data accessibility, reliability, and performance while driving innovation and continuous improvement within the data engineering department.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of talented data engineers responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our data infrastructure platform.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy aligned with business goals and objectives, collaborating with technical leads and product managers on prioritization and roadmap plans.
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies and best practices, implementing processes to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Conduct data discovery activities, performing root cause analysis and making recommendations for the remediation of data quality issues.
  • Understand business and technical requirements, providing subject matter expertise and implementing data engineering techniques.
  • Establish and maintain performance monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting mechanisms to ensure the reliability and availability of our data infrastructure platform.
  • Work cross-functionally to prioritize work items, track progress, and deliver commitments, collaborating extensively with data science and analytics teams to design data platforms that support their needs and deliverables.
  • Directly contribute to the entire development cycle, from conception and design through release, reporting, and analytics.

Requirements

  • Degree in computer science or related field
  • 3+ years of leadership/experience managing highly technical teams
  • Strong technical background in data engineering and architecture
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and tools such as Jira
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making
  • Proven track record delivering high visibility projects on time and budget
