About the position

As a Manager of Data Management/Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in leading a team responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of a data warehouse. This position requires a blend of strategic planning, team management, and hands-on technical expertise to ensure the effective processing and analysis of data across the organization. You will be tasked with developing scalable data governance processes, comprehensive data documentation and catalogues, and robust data pipelines that support analytical and business intelligence processes. Your collaboration with various groups will be essential in fostering data-driven decision-making and contributing to the overall data strategy of the company. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain efficient data pipelines and workflows tailored to meet diverse business use cases and analytical requirements. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to gather data requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions. Utilizing best practices and monitoring tools, you will identify and address bottlenecks and inefficiencies in data processing. Ensuring data integrity, efficiency, and security will be a top priority, as will monitoring and troubleshooting data pipeline health and performance issues to minimize downtime and maintain data quality. You will also be responsible for creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for data pipelines and workflows, ensuring knowledge transfer and compliance with organizational standards. Conducting data profiling, cleansing, and validation activities will be crucial to uphold data quality and integrity throughout the data lifecycle, adhering to data governance and compliance requirements. Your participation in code reviews, testing, and debugging activities will ensure the reliability and maintainability of data engineering solutions. Additionally, you will assist in designing and implementing a mature data lifecycle, including data backups and restoration processes, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and developing data governance policies to maintain data accuracy and consistency.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines and workflows to support various business use cases and analytical requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Leverage best practices and monitoring tools to identify and address bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
  • Ensure best practices in data integrity, efficiency, and security.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline health and performance issues, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime and ensure data quality and reliability.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data pipelines and workflows, ensuring knowledge transfer and compliance with organizational standards and policies.
  • Conduct data profiling, cleansing and validation activities to ensure data quality and integrity throughout the data life cycle, adhering to data governance and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in code review, testing, and debugging activities to ensure the reliability, stability, and maintainability of data engineering solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues reported by end-users or detected through monitoring and alerting systems, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to operations.
  • Design and implement a mature data lifecycle, including backups and restore of data.
  • Assist ServiceNow admins with creating workflows relevant to the data lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with Role-Based Access and other regulatory requirements.
  • Developing and implementing data governance policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Collaborating with data architects, engineers, and analysts to design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Ensuring data quality and integrity by implementing data validation, cleansing, and testing methods.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving data issues and providing technical support as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, physics, or other technical fields.
  • 7 years or more experience in data management or engineering.
  • 3 to 5 years of technical management experience.
  • Expert knowledge of SQL.
  • Experience building scalable data solutions.
  • 6 to 10 years of solution development and technology experience.
  • Fundamental data architecture and design skills.
  • Integrity, discretion, and respect for confidential information.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with various data engines.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance practices.
