About the position

The DevOps Manager at American Credit Acceptance is responsible for leading the DevOps team, overseeing the deployment, maintenance, and support of the Atlassian stack and cloud infrastructure. This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure optimal performance and efficiency in DevOps processes, while also driving innovation and reliability in application management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the DevOps team to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality support and services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including application development, operations, QA, and business units, to align DevOps initiatives with ACA goals.
  • Define and implement best practices for DevOps processes, ensuring scalability, security, and efficiency for ACA mission-critical suite of applications.
  • Oversee the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of the Atlassian stack (Jira, Bamboo, Bitbucket, Confluence), Version control, Artifact management.
  • Manage, optimize cloud infrastructure in AWS and OnPrem - Windows, Linux based servers and ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of cloud-based applications and services.
  • Implement and Innovate concepts for Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Automate deployment processes for Windows servers to minimize manual intervention and reduce deployment times.
  • Continuously improve build and release pipelines to ensure seamless and reliable application delivery.
  • Analyze performance metrics and troubleshoot system issues to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency.
  • Ensure security best practices are integrated into all DevOps processes, including access controls and vulnerability management.
  • Identify and evaluate new tools, technologies, and processes to enhance DevOps workflows and productivity.
  • Drive automation initiatives to eliminate repetitive tasks and increase operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand system requirements and provide technical support and solutions.
  • Communicate progress, challenges, and updates effectively to leadership and team members.
  • Be a thought leader to guide the team in adopting and implementing DevOps best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of management experience supporting, solutioning and/or managing DevOps or Engineering teams.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading and supporting highly visible and strategic technology platforms and product offerings, in a DevOps role or similar capacity.
  • Experience with MS Windows Server 2016-2022.
  • Proficiency in administering and managing Jira, Bamboo, Bitbucket, and Confluence.
  • Excellent communication skills when working with users to gather build pipeline requirements as input for application project configurations and access controls.
  • Strong understanding of Git and Bitbucket for version control and collaboration.
  • Hands-on experience with JFrog Artifactory for artifact repository management.
  • Expertise in AWS services, including EC2, S3, DynamoDB, CloudFormation, and networking components (VPC, Route 53, etc.).
  • Familiarity with deploying applications on Windows and Linux servers.
  • Experience with SonarQube for static code analysis and code quality assurance.
  • Proficiency in Python, C#, .NET, Bash, and Shell scripting for automation and tooling.
  • Expertise in managing DevOps pipelines, promoting best practices, and implementing CI/CD processes.
  • Proven experience leading DevOps teams and fostering collaboration across development, operations, and business units.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic agile environment and must have a strong work ethic with good time and team management skills.
  • Team oriented, an open communicator, and willing to work with fellow managers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the financial services industry is preferred.
  • Experience with Configuration Management tools: Ansible, Puppet, Chef.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, CDN, HTTP, WAF, OAuth, SAML.
  • Experience with Docker containers and Kubernetes clusters.
  • Familiarity with Monitoring and Analytics platforms.
