About the position

The Manager of Development Operations at Columbia University plays a crucial role in leading the operational aspects of fundraising activities for the School of the Arts. This position involves providing administrative support to the Associate Dean for Development, managing various operational needs, and acting as a key liaison with multiple departments and stakeholders. The role requires strong organizational skills, project management experience, and a commitment to the arts and higher education.

Responsibilities

  • Manage operational needs of the School of the Arts development function, interfacing with various university offices.
  • Track development-related activity tasks and deadlines; calendar current and upcoming workflow.
  • Oversee information on policy matters, prepare reports, and respond to information requests.
  • Write and prepare correspondence for key donors; maintain communication with Directors of Academic Administration.
  • Lead the written reporting process to donors of named gifts and manage donor acknowledgment processes.
  • Serve as key liaison with the University's Office of Donor Relations and Stewardship.
  • Monitor fundraising projections and track progress to goals throughout the fiscal year.
  • Coordinate events, including list generation, invitation coordination, and participant outreach.
  • Produce key presentations for faculty and advisory committee meetings in partnership with the Associate Dean.
  • Oversee administrative responsibilities for the office, including database management and appointment calendar management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of related experience required.
  • Previous experience in higher education or a similarly complex institutional setting required.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Strong organizational and follow-through abilities with outstanding attention to detail.
  • Project management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a complex setting.
  • A demonstrated commitment to the arts and to higher education.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and experience handling highly confidential information.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $75,000 - $80,000 based on qualifications and experience.
